I should quit teaching and go into wedding planning/etc here. There is very little around this town. I could be rich! Hah. But then I'd have to deal with crazy brides all the time. That may be worse than middle school kids.

I would get on irc if this computer had mirc.
I wonder if the computer at my mom's has it still.
Hmm..probably not. We got her a new one.
Grr..guess I'll go watch some lame tv until E gets home. Perhaps we can have wings tonight..
On a completely unrelated note, I think I have found the fabric for the bridesmaids' dresses. It's not the type of silk that I originally wanted but it's the right color. Yay!!!!
Okay..off to find the remote.

So Sunday night we went to pick up my prescription from Walgreen's. I dropped it off earlier because I've learned it's just better that way. The guy who always seems to disappear when there are lots o'people in the drive-thru was there. Joy of joys..
He says I've got one of your prescriptions filled but I'll have to give you an emergency supply on the other. We've got a call in to the doctor because there are no more refills. Umm, excuse me. My new doctor rocks. She doesn't put a set limit - just a date. A date that coincides with when I have to go back and see her again. So yea, I snapped into snarky teacher mode. The voice! And he started backpedaling real fast. Well, this one is ready; it's the other one for the thyroid.."umm, what other one? I have only one prescription that needs to be filled." "Could you please give me your address?" ".$#4 S#h##a" "Oh this seems to be for another Monica M....I'm so sorry about that."
Yeesh. It may be time to go back to CVS now.
On a positive note, I'm going to get paid for the training I'll be attending next week. Woo!
Any my mother wasn't too big of a pain when we were looking at patterns this afternoon. She liked the fabrics, but seems to have a problem with the bridesmaids' dresses. We'll see how tomorrow goes..

11:07 pm - hmm..
It's summer. And it's hot. And the ac in my stupid car just really isn't working. It might get fixed tomorrow.
What else..
Eh..can't really think right now. Maybe I need some milk and powdered donuts.

10:37 am - holiday, holiday
So yea, this is probably the last year our district will let us out for an entire week at Thanksgiving. Boo! But I'm going to enjoy it anyways..to celebrate this morning, I slept until 9. :D I'm normally in my classroom grading papers and sending students away by that time..think I'll go make some coffee now.

03:30 pm - tax free fun..
Okay, so I have "saved" approximately $8.50 in tax. We went to Marshall's after lunch this afternoon. I got one of the two skirts I tried on yesterday. And I didn't get the shoes I originally wanted - my mother talked me out of them. But she's right, I have another pair that are very similar. And it makes much more sense to buy a pair that I can actually wear to work.
Woohoo!!!! I now have furniture in my classroom. It better be my furniture and not some cast-off crap. Otherwise I could be mighty annoyed..ay, I can't believe I go back to work on Monday. Where in the heck did my summer go. Oh well, it was a good summer. Muy relaxing.
Okay, I do believe that my mother has finished paying bills - that means more tax-free goodness is coming our way!!!

08:23 am - *boogie*
We're going to see Alison Krauss Thursday night. Unless it gets postponed again (or worse). We got pretty good seats, better than I was offered for the original date. I'm excited. It's actually better this way. The original show was going to be on a Thursday night and that would have made for a rough Friday. My kids would have been most unhappy because I would have been exhausted. This way the only one who will be exhausted is E. He has to work on Friday and can't sleep in. Poor baby. I'll have to take him somewhere nice for dinner before the show..
Ah, so yes, I am still attempting to clean my room. I'm convinced that it is worse than before. I need to put that on hold though and clean the other bedroom. My parents are bringing my nephew from Houston some time today. He's going to stay with us for a few days!! I wish they had come Sunday, but I guess it's better this way. The room wasn't ready then.
I should really grade some papers, print some progress reports and spoil some Spring Breaks. All those students who didn't get their progress report signed or complete the homework before vacation should get one. We'll see. Maybe I'll do that this afternoon. Yea, I know. I'm mean. They tell me all the time. Oh well.

12:03 pm - Whee...
Best Buy on a Sunday morning - now that is the time to go. We went for breakfast first. Gem's was crazy packed, but we got a booth without any problem. And they were faster than usual. Go figure. We weren't planning to stop at Best Buy today, but I was feeling somewhat guilty at all that I spent yesterday shopping. I decided that E should go ahead and get his new video card.
He was (is..) quite happy. Is going to be playing with that until it's time to go over to his parents' house. I got some new cds too. Have them in the disc changer. Michelle Branch, Alison Kraus, Santana, Los Lonely Boys, and the super soundtrack thingie from The Big Chill. Too bad we didn't have one of those 10% coupons. That's about the only thing that would have made the morning trip better. Or maybe double reward zone points. Oh well..
Okay, I am supposed to be cleaning out the closet again. I shall go do that now.

Heheh..I was observed today. And I really didn't care. A bad attitude I'm sure. Okay, wait, I did care but not to the point where I felt like I had to do something extra special. I'm fairly ambivalent about being observed now. My administrators know what I do in and outside the classroom for my kids and I'm not going to bend over backwards trying to impress them by adding more. She saw a warm-up activity, time to finish yesterday's quiz, time to organize binders and assignment pages, and then we took notes/discussed the new lesson. She left right as we started the student activity. We have a new math curriculum at our school and there isn't a whole lot of razzle dazzle to it..we have to do two peer observations at my campus. People were asking me last semester when it would be okay to come observe my class. I told them that whatever time was good for them, was good for me. I have an open-door policy where I welcome anyone to come and see what we're doing. Some days are more exciting than others. I think that's one of the things I enjoy so much. Oh well..hopefully it didn't go too bad. My chillins' weren't running around the room or doing anything dumb so that is fairly good..ok, now I must sleep or else tomorrow is going to be an extremely long Friday. I am so glad I'm not teaching Saturday School.

11:33 am - need a nap..
Okay, I usually like the new math program we have at our school. Except that there are no answer keys for the in-class activities or homeworks. I have to create them. And I'm really tired. Smart girl here was up until after 2am. Blah..but I should able to get to bed early and get up early tomorrow. Have to go back to work. Yuck. The kids don't return until Monday. Yay for that!!
Okay, I suppose I should get back to the wonderful world of math. Or at least do some more cleaning. I have cleaned out and organized three drawers in our kitchen/den area. Yea, doesn't sound like much. But if you knew what our house was like you would realize that that is a major feat. Have to do it when my mother isn't paying much attention, because I'm tossing a lot of crap. Like a single blue marble. Why is there a single blue marble in the school supply type drawer. Ay..
I could continue, but I know that I'm just procrastinating...

So Monday was just plain awful. And I can't really remember why anymore because today was pretty awesome (I am all about describing my days with "p" and "a" words...will have to start thinking about tomorrow). I hope that tomorrow will actually be productive. HAH!!!
No seriously. Today we (another teacher and I) started a fairly major project for the last 2 1/2 weeks of school. While there may be some moments, I don't think that I'll regret. We have more direction than last year. We decided not to include any other teachers so we don't have to worry about stepping on toes.
I have found several websites where students can begin their research. And I located quite a few books in the library for those students whose parents won't give permission for internet use(!!!). Shocking, eh?
Okay, it it now time for George Lopez so I must allow my mind to vegetate.

Yea, I'm such a bad math teacher. We're making greeting cards tomorrow. They're for Math Education month. We'll exchange them with some fourth graders (a friend teaches at an elementary school).
They were a little more accepting when I told them that they do some of the same (slightly modified) lessons. They got really excited when I explained that they pretty much had absolute freedom in the design and creation. Just has to be appropriate.
I suppose that means I should wear something that can withstand marker and glue and glitter. Oy..please don't be a long Friday.

11:27 pm
Umm, yea, I wasn't finished with that last post. But I guess it being posted while I was writing is much better than it disappearing into LJ-land never to be seen again.
Yes, it is definitely time for bed. Must get plenty of sleep tonight so I will be more likely to have a pleasant day tomorrow..
11:20 pm
I want it to be May 26 already. Heck, I'd be happy with May 23. All we're doing that last week of school is presenting projects. If we ever get to start our projects. I love how my students feel like they're done with school because testing is over.
And some of the other teachers are subscribing to (and encouraging) this mentality. I called the parents for half of my fifth period class this afternoon. The only reason I didn't finish the calls was that it was time to meet my mother to work out. I have quite a few who are going to be quite upset tomorrow - parents were planning to revoke all sorts of privileges. Serves them right.
How difficult is it to turn in a journal entry describing what they were thinking while playing a game. They had plenty of class time to complete it too! And if their writing skills were tested by the state earlier this year, they should definitely know how to write in complete sentences. Yeesh. I'm going to have some extremely disappointed people when I return their entries. Although not nearly as disappointed as the ones who will fail if they don't get their happy selves in gear.
Perhaps I should revist the lesson on mean, median, and mode. Have them calculate what a failing six weeks average will do their grade for the year..

06:29 pm - bler..
I'm a spaz. I read posts almost everyday, yet I hardly ever post. Not sure why exactly. Maybe because by the end of the day my little heathens have worn me out. Heh. They're actually pretty wonderful this year. Even the ones who are a little more on the pain side...
I found out last week that I passed the pedagogy exam for my teacher certification. Today I applied for my standard certificate. Woo! I'm almost official. Received my Master's in December. Hmm..que mas? I am an aunt - my nephew was born in November two days before my birthday. E and I celebrated two years in November. Oh and he received his BFA in December also.
Yea, guess that's it. Think I'll play Bookworm before dinner.

Just want to go back to sleep. Woke up around 10 this morning. I've already taken one nap. And now that I've had a second huge meal today, my body needs sleep. Blerf..
The good teacher would finish her lesson plans and grade all those stinkin' papers. I've decided that any late work will receive a 70. I'm not even going to grade it. If they wanted full credit, they should have had it when it was due. Yea.

Yay for Kinko's screw-ups. We left E's flash drive last night so they could print more announcements for his show. They were supposed to be ready at 1 today. Well, we went and the girl informs us that there was no image, only a gray box. Hmm..so first they had to FIND his order (and flash drive..he was getting muy annoyed because it had been misplaced) and then they opened it - because of course we had to see for ourselves. What they didn't realize was that 'gray box' is the image. A computer replica of a monotype. So she printed them lickety-split and then gave them to us at no charge. Saved $50!!! Double sided glossy card stock is expensive stuff..
Now I just have to finalize a menu for the opening reception. I've got several possibilities. But I don't know how much variety there should be..hrm. Decisions are the worst. Perhaps I should call someone who would know more about these things..

10:19 pm - Ah..school
Went to school today to check out my classroom. Got some work done. Hung the fabric for both boards. Put up the calendar. Ama organized my book cabinet. Tomorrow I shall play with the laminator. And I ought to have my whiteboard by the end of the week. Woo!!
